Beukers & Jurling

a long history

Beukers & Jurling Expeditie- en Vrachtautobedrijf BV (founded in 1889) is one of the oldest active freight forwarders and road transport companies in the Netherlands.

Beukers & Jurling

Freight Forwarding and Trucking Company

On February 1, 1889, Mr. A.J. Beukers and Mr. J.H. Jurling signed the founding documents of Beukers & Jurling, a company that started as a forwarding service focused on transport along the Rhine. Around 1900, the company expanded its activities to include various agencies, with the most important collaboration being with the United Flexible Tubing Company from England.

This partnership, specializing in the production of flexible metal tubing, fueled Beukers & Jurling’s growth and helped establish key connections in the shipbuilding and oil production industries.

In 1919, after three decades of collaboration, Beukers and Jurling retired and transferred the company to Mr. H.W. van de Meerendonk. His son took a new approach by acquiring a truck for transporting large and heavy materials like tubing. This innovation led to the formation of a sub-business within the forwarding department, resulting in the establishment of Beukers & Jurling Expeditie- en Vrachtautobedrijf B.V.

As the English tubing company could not meet the needs of the Dutch market, Beukers & Jurling started their own production division, marking a period of growth.
In 1970, the production and forwarding departments merged into a joint facility in Schiedam. Shortly after, Beukers & Jurling Garagebedrijf B.V. was founded to manage the fleet.
In 1996, the production division was sold to refocus the company on its core business: transport.

Transport

The transport division specialized in general freight and distribution throughout Western Europe, transporting a wide range of products such as sea containers, paint, paint-related items, clothing, and collectibles.

The company also offered a 24-hour delivery service within the Benelux. Additionally, it began developing multimodal transport options, integrating services such as freight trains and refrigerated transport to improve sustainability and cost-efficiency.

In 1999, the company acquired part of the former Nedlloyd group (international sea container transport division) and moved to a new facility in Hoogvliet, where a headquarters was established to coordinate both national and international road transport services, as well as multimodal transport services.

Equipped with specialized trucks for transporting hazardous or oversized cargo, the new facility also featured a modern workshop for fleet maintenance.

Daily routes were established to the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Switzerland, and Italy. Beukers & Jurling set itself apart from competitors not only with its diverse fleet but also with its in-house container handling capabilities in Hoogvliet, minimizing both time and environmental impact.

Today, the fifth and sixth generations of the owners focus their efforts on global logistics in the event industry. From their headquarters in Zevenbergen, a dedicated and experienced team works with the latest information and communication tools to support these international initiatives.
